We all have a responsibility to keep our environment and the people around us safe.
The Operations Office strives to uphold and assure health and safety in the buildings and on the playgrounds of the School. We have regular walk-through inspections, working with KAUST Health and Safety Department to assure a safe environment and infrastructure.
The School, as in the wider KAUST Community, can rely on rapid response from the Fire Department and KAUST Health in case of any emergency. All emergency incidences are recorded to identify trends and assure follow up of the cause, if related to the facility and grounds.
The School has onsite Health offices in both the Gardens and Harbor Buildings. These offices are run by qualified nurses, who can assist with any onsite health issue. They facilitate the transfer of patients to KAUST Heath, if needed.
The School has scheduled fire drills and lock-down procedures to assure that staff and students can act promptly in a real emergency situation.
If there is any Health and Safety concern in the School, please report via the Hazard Reporting Form

An automated external defibrillator (AED) is a portable electronic device that automatically diagnoses the life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias of ventricular fibrillation and pulseless ventricular tachycardia, and is able to treat them through defibrillation. A built-in computer checks a patient's heart rhythm through adhesive electrodes. The computer calculates whether defibrillation is needed or not. If it is needed, a recorded voice or on-screen message prompts the rescuer to press the shock button on the AED. Some AEDs are fully automated and will administer the shock themselves, if needed.
AEDs are intended for use by the general public.
AEDs are safe to use by anyone. You will do no harm by connecting the leads to a person. Once the pads are attached, everyone should avoid touching the patient so as to avoid false readings by the unit. The built-in computer will decide if a shock is needed.
